Bill Dies in the House; Servers in New Mexico still risk felony charges

A bill that negotiated changes to the liquor Control Act died in the House recently.  Last March, the senate passed a bill that included the reduction of a  4th degree felony for serving to a minor to misdemeanors on the first and second offense and then a felony on the third offense. Currently under NM state law,  servers who unintentionally serve to underage minors could  face felony charges on thier first offense.   According to the NMRA, the bill had three committee referrals in the Senate and passed without too much opposition. However, in the House the bill met with sudden death in the Business and Industry committee.
