Michigan enacted a 100% smoke free workplace, restaurant and bar law which is scheduled to go into effect May 1, 2010.  Currently, food service establishments seating 50 or more persons that ar not owned or operated by a private club must reserve a minimum of 50% of all seating for a non-smoking section.  All food service establishments seating fewer than 50 people, including owned and operated by a private club, must reserve a minimum of 25% of the seating for an non-smoking section.  Public areas in restaurants must be smoke-free.  These areas include, but are not limited to , restrooms, coatrooms, and entrances.  Public areas do not include lobbies, waiting rooms, hallways, or lounges.
