Tobacco Control:

South Dakota enacted a 100% smoke free workplace, restaurant, bar and gaming facilities law which was scheduled to go into effect July 1, 2009 but which has been suspended by a referendam placing the law on the ballot in Nov 2010 and which will not go into effect unless approved by voters. Currently,  South Dakota’s smokefree air law prohibits smoking in restaurants, except for those licensed to sell alcohol.
